Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on Wednesday, where he inaugurated or laid the foundation for several projects and tourist attractions valued at Rs 284 crore.
During his two-day trip to Gujarat, Modi is participating in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, which honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.
Upon his arrival in Ekta Nagar, located approximately 200 km from Ahmedabad, Modi inaugurated a range of new facilities, including a sub-district hospital, smart bus stops, a 4 MW solar power project, and two ICU-on-wheels.
Among the newly launched initiatives is a 50-bed sub-district hospital, constructed at a cost of Rs 22 crore. This facility features a trauma center, a gynecological operating theater, a minor operating theater, a CT scan unit, an ICU, a labor room, specialized wards, a medical store, and an ambulance service, as outlined in a government announcement.
Other amenities introduced during the event include ten smart bus stops and tourist pick-up points in Ekta Nagar, push-button pedestrian crossings, car charging stations, and a running track designated for the State Reserve Police Force personnel.
Additionally, the Prime Minister launched a 4 MW solar energy project, developed for Rs 23.26 crore, aimed at fostering the use of renewable energy sources.
Modi also laid the foundation for a sewage treatment plant in Ekta Nagar, estimated to cost Rs 75 crore, which will handle sewage disposal for around 4,000 households, government quarters, and various hospitality venues.
Further foundation stones were laid for residential quarters for fire staff and the Sardar Sarovar Dam Experience Centre. Moreover, the Prime Minister initiated plans for a bonsai garden designed to promote sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
